Pinafore .
A child's pinafore dress during World War II looked like a tee shirt sewed to a skirt with an apron over the entire dress. The apron part was sometimes sewed right to the dress, but in most cases it was entirely removable and worn with more than one dress.

Get a black or dark blue dress. Put an apron over it, splatter the apron with some fake blood. Wear black and white striped stockings. And finish it off with some black high heeled shoes or boots. Hope this helped

Or they may have worn a dress over the shift. They would have protected the dress or skirt with an apron. They would have covered their hair with a linen coif. They would have covered their legs and feet with stockings and shoes.
To put a new apron on, first you get the hole at the top of the apron on over the top of your head so it is around your neck. Then get the two stap-like things at the sides and tie a bow with them behind your back. After doing that you will be wearing a lovely new apron perfectly!
