happy chimp
The word chimp is a shortened version of "Chimpanzee"
Most times no. Most people who get a chimp as a "pet" (while there are not many), get them and think they can train them to act like a child and this isn't true. The people try and take the wild and chimp behaviors out of the chimp and once the chimp reaches maturity they act out and are too much to handle. Because of this most (almost all) "pet" chimps are sent of to sanctuaries, breeding facilities or labs when they reach maturity at about 6 years old. The only time a "pet" chimp will be really happy is when they are babies getting all the attention. There are rare occasions where a chimp will seem happy being a "pet" chimp and treated like a child, but they are not as happy as they probably would be being in the wild, or if they were a "pet" but with their own kind in very large (zoo type) enclosures. Now, however people who have chimps and have them living like chimps in a zoo, in large enclosures, with their own kind, and don't try to train them, they for the most part are happy being "pets" or being captive chimps at least.
