ELF quendë (a technical, generic term, seldom used in the sg; pl Quendi is the usual form; there are gender-specific forms quendu m. and quendi f., but they seem to be rare; pl. forms quendur, quendir are attested), Elda (originally generic, but later [MET] used of Elves of the Three Kindreds [Noldor, Vanyar, Teleri] only. That was at least the proper usage: Elda was the normal word for "elf" in Valinor, since all Elves there were Eldar, and quendë became a word of lore.

Some elves won't come back because a child's parents hide them. Elves on Shelves are used to help kids get excited about the Christmas holiday.

The plural form of the noun elf is elves.
The word in Hebrew is the same as in English "Elf" (אלף). Jews do not have a culture that "invented" elves like Nordic Culture and therefore Hebrew does not have an endemic word for "elves". This is as opposed to "Dwarf" which is translated as Gamad (גמד) since there is a concept among Ancient Israelites of Dwarfs.
The nickname 'Giants' sounds more imposing than say... the New York Elves orNew York Dwarfs. No offense to any elves or dwarfs.

It is the home of the Valar (spirits comparable to minor gods or angels), who a very long time ago invited the Elves to come and live in their lands, and the Elves have been following that call ever since.
no they do not, if your thinking fictional then yes the elves make the toys but, if you in reality with the rest of us then no they do not because there is no such think as Santa and the elves and reindeer and etc.
