I had wanted to dye suede before a shoe repair shop told me it could be done but it change the suede to normal leather can not recall if they said nu buck or smooth. I think if they look odd at all to you then do suggest that a shoe repair shop or at some places depending where you live call them a old fashioned term cobblers take them there they have a buffing machine that takes them to a shine or to the loo they should have then it is possible that they look nicer possibly a different texture wearable as smooth shiny or nu buck it is worth a try good luck with it.
