An overdose of Tylenol can be fatal in infants.[1]

Call Poison Control on 1-800-222-1222 or call your local Emergency Room IMMEDIATELY!

Just to point out that paracetamo (Tylenol) OD can easily be fatal in adults too. Accidental overdose of paracetamol is the most common cause of poisoning in infants. Your medicine cupboard should be high up with a child-proof catch and medicines should be in it.

Our pediatrician recommends Tylenol over Ibuprofen because the Ibuprofen has more possible side effects, such as dehydration. As for Tylenol, there may be some issues with the liver. Either way, use medication sparingly.

That would typically not be recommended unless the child has what is known as hyperpyrexia, a stubborn fever that does not respond well to just one of the meds.

How can 3 week old baby have fever?

Infants at that age can have a fever for varying reasons. Until they are 2 months of age, a fever above 101 degrees Fahrenheit should be taken seriously. Contact your physician for treatment ASAP. This isn't something to panic about, but just to be monitored closely. Usually a treatment of infant Tylenol and infant Motrin are ordered. After 2 months of age a fever of 103 or less is not alone something to panic about. If it doesn't go down with infant Tylenol lasts longer then 24 hours, or is accompanied any other symptoms contact your child's physician.

Over the counter pain pills for dogs?

dogs can actually take infant/childrens pain medication and administer it by poundage of the dog, just like you would for an infant or toddler, we have used infant tylenol. You may not know this but the vets give dogs and cats children's medicine and even children's antibiotics. I don't know who posted this originally, but Tylenol should NEVER be given to any dog. It has a chemical that will make a dog's brain swell.

Can you give an infant ibuprofen?

Tylenol should only be used as directed. Every situation is different so I would consult your doctor or visit the Tylenol website which will contain a lot of information. Their site states that before using Tylenol Infant for children uner 2 years of age you should consult your physician.
