Call the card issuer and report the theft. At this point I would prefer to cancel the card and block any auto-pay it had rather than have them issue a new card with a new number. Closing the account avoids the need to scan bills, block auto-payments and protest fraudulent charges passed through.

First thing you do is call the card 1-800 number listed for that card and report a lost card. They will cancel the card and issue you a new one. Next, you contact the police and get a report and finally you order a credit report to make sure that there isn't more to this.
