If you have documentation that the issue was settled, you should only need to present them with the proof and the matter will be resolved. They may be working with outdated information. * The negative entry will remain in the Chex System for 5 years. Many banks will not allow the person to hold an ATM or Debit card until that time expires. The only option would be to try to open an account at a different banking facility.
