What should you do if you're lost at an airport?

If your luggage is missing from the airport or does not show up on the baggage carousel, the first thing you should do is file a report with an airline representative. Most times, the airline will ask you to list the items in the bag, so you must be able to recall what you packed.

You should find an airport worker, whether it is airline staff, airport security, or ramp workers, find someone who works there and ask them for assistance. Airports can be big confusing places and the people who work there should be well used to helping people find their way.

It should be noted however, that most airport workers have undergone a certain amount of security training, be sure to approach them with open hands and a clear statement of your request. Also, be very careful to avoid entering any prohibited areas, there is a lot of dangerous equipment around and you could find yourself in an unsafe situation very quickly.

If you should somehow find yourself lost on the airport tarmac, you should immediately move away from any runways. Once you find a reasonably safe location, try to make yourself visible to the control tower, you might try waving a shirt or a jacket to get their attention. They will dispatch airport security to move you to safety.
