If a Mac stops at the blue screen during the start up sequence you need to hold down the power button for a few seconds until it switches off. Switch it on again and hope that it works this time. If it continues to fail to start up you will need to re install the Mac OS as something has been screwed up, either by the hard disc being damaged or by some suspect software that you have installed (hint: Only install legitimate software from trusted sources ) that is preventing it from starting. Put the Installation disc in the computer and switch it on while holding down the C key. Keep the C key pressed until the computer starts to load from the disc. From the disc you can perform an Archive and Install installation which will archive all your old stuff in a folder called Previous System and will give you a fresh installation of the OS.
