Check the fuse first, If the fuse is good, check the plug with a voltmeter and make sure you are getting about 14V (likely you are). If both of these are true you problably need a new blower motor. The motor is under the hood on the firewall, take out the screws and the motor and squirrel cage assembly will come out together. Most of the time you will have to take the squirrel cage off and reattach it to the new motor. Dealer will have them, bt they will be most expensive, there are remanufactured ones available most of the time for a lot less money, take the old one in as there will be a core charge on a re-man. Not a real difficult fix most of the time. Good luck.
blower motor
My heater / ac blower is not working, please advise.
In the engine compartment on the passenger side - (Helpfull)
The Heater Blower Relay on a 1993 Ford Explorer is located in the Power Distribution Box. The PDB is in the engine compartment, mounted on a bracket attached to the right fender apron. The Heater Blower Relay is one of six relays, the first relay on the upper left.
If you remove the breather box from in front of the blower motor you can reach the three retainers.
My 1993 Explorer buttons stopped working too. The Ford dealership told me that if you don't use the buttons occasionally like turning the 4x4 on and off while your car is warming up the brushes in the electric motor underneath the vehicle will stick. I got under the vehicle(not while it was running) and banged on it with a hammer it started working. But I now every once in a while turn those buttons on and off.
I have the same problem. what I do is tap on the heater blower (located below the glove compartment in the corner)which will magically make the fan work or remove the two gold Philip screws that hold the cover and spin the fan manually.
in the fuse box under the hood the box is located behind the battery
Yes, if the blower isn't working. If it turns out to be the fuse, and it blows again, you probably have a bad blower motor.
sounds like the cable broke usually on the transmission end
It could be the motor, switch, relay, corroded or dirty connector, damaged wire or blown fuse.
