It depends on what is wrong - if the starter-motor does not operate it is probably a flat battery (charge it), starter relay (replace it) or starter motor (replace it) - always check for corrosion / bad earths. If the starter-motor is operating but the engine isn't firing it could be any number of things - but for a motor to run it must have: compression, fuel & ignition.
