If your father and mother are divorced because of abuse should you still love the abusive parent?

You should always love your parents. If the abuse is real (and often it is only perceived) you should avoid being alone with them. Abuse should also be reported and verified. These are different then love. You should NEVER stop loving your parents.

Which is worse having an alcoholic parent or having divorced parents?

Hmmm.. This is a tough question but I'm going to have to go with alcoholic parent because I don't want to see one of my family members be drunk and go to the doctors often getting bad news like you have CANCER! I'd rather have divorced parents.

What is the other way of controlling children if not by caning?

The word 'caning' is what gives 'spanking' a bad name. To hit a child with anything, but your hand is abuse. Many people are against spanking, yet parents are beginning to realize that controlled spankings (across the knee and a good flat hand on their backside) can often shorten the discipline time and get the entire household back into reasonable order. Children who continuously are into trouble; having tantrums; hitting; slapping or kicking may well have something wrong with them and a parent should take them to their doctor and discuss the matter. A child could have ADD/AHD to many other problems and the parent may well be unaware of it. If the child passes the physical then it is time to seek help from a child psychologist. Other reasons could be that parents have divorced and this is devastating to a child and they often blame themselves. Another reason is when the child starts school and doesn't feel they fit in or may be bullied. Also if there is a parent that is an alcoholic in the family it can cause a child to act out or, physical or sexual abuse by someone in the family (generally a man) can also be a reason. Before a parent decides to spank any child they should first be calm and sit the child down and if they are old enough ask them what is making them behave this way. Suggest some of the above information to them from starting school; divorce; etc. Let the child get their feelings out and if parents are always yelling; not giving their children time to explain (children do not often know why they are acting out) then they are doing their child an injustice. Children should feel they can come to a parent or parents with confidence and that the parent or parents are there to help them through some difficult times. Fear generated from a parent is not the answer as it isolates parent and child.

Should a 13 year old child be forced to see their 'other' parent?

Generally a 13 year old child should not be forced to see the other parent, but, it does depend on what has been said to the 13 year old about the parent they do not want to see. The child may have heard the mother or father or the family members talk about how bad the other parent was and as long as the mother and father have committed no crime; are not in prison; is on drugs; did not commit child abuse physically or verbally then the other parent should be able to strike up a relationship with their own child with the help of the other parent. To a child they are often torn between two parents and if the two parents would mature then they would put their child first and themselves last.

How come parents don't get in trouble for kidnapping their own children?

Often they do. A parent can be charged with kidnapping if they take the child without the other parent's knowledge or consent or from a court appointed guardian.

Why does the Mother keep the children not the Father when they get divorced?

This is not a rule or law, just happens that more often the mother is found to be a more suitable parent than the father in custody cases.

Why are children good for babysitter then bad when parents come to get them and how can the babysitter or parent correct this?

Children are often "good" for a babysitter because the experience is new. With parents, patterns are established that lend to disobedience and strife.
