You battle the Channeler Girls (the ones talking to the dead Pokemon's spirits.) Their pokemons are mostly Gastly & Haunter. There will also be this ghost there. You can't defeat the ghost without a Silph Scope, which is in Celadon City, in the Game Corner. You need it so you can identify what type of Pokemon the ghost is. But, in order to get the Silph Scope, you must battle Team Rocket's Boss, Giovanni. He will have Ground/Rock Pokemons. Once you defeated him, he will give you the Silph Scope. When you defeat the ghost, this guy Mr. Fuji, will give you this PokeFlute. The PokeFlute will make Snorlax awake, and you have a chance to capture Snorlax. Snorlax will also stop blocking your way through places.
