We recommend a medically-supervised detox, followed by inpatient rehab and a 12-step program.

If you cannot afford these things, we recommend Alcoholics Anonymous. You should know, however, that the recovery rate is much higher in people who have been to treatment as opposed to those who have only attended AA. (Some AA members may disagree with that, but the numbers are clear.) This is not to imply that treatment takes the place of Alcoholics Anonymous, only that AA attendance is most successful when combined with treatment.

All of the best treatment centers include 12-step meetings in their programs.
