I would suggest selling the pups at a high price. Akita's may not be rare, but they are a noble breed and they are useful for many different things. Be aware that many Akita buyers are willing to buy up to four pups, of mixed sex, to breed them and sell the litter. Yes, i understand this is the dog equivalent to incest, though it is useful, because the pups will most likely survive longer.
usually an Akita dog will have 5 to 7 puppies per litter.
Litter size 3-12 puppies, avg. 7-8.
Someone might be able to find free Akita puppies in the local dog pound or animal sanctuary. It is unlikely though because they are an expensive breed and therefore more likely to be sold than given away.
Perhaps the closest Akita breeder to Ontario, Canada is "Akitas of Kireisa," which have a long history of excellence in their field. Puppy adopters must be pre-approved, but the Akita dogs are brought up quite well with only the highest standards.
Probably, considering that both are dogs. All dogs are part of the same species, meaning that, whatever their differences in looks, they can interbreed.
