Get someone to help you. Carefully wash the wound out. Before you bandage it, make sure that there is no debris in the cut. Then, using an appropriately sized bandage, carefully wrap the wound, and try to staunch the bleeding. If you don't have a big enough bandage, use a towel or some other piece of cloth, and call the emergency room with the 911 line.

Once the wound has been initially cared for, you must maintain its cleanliness, regularly changing the bandaging, and applying ointment to help it heal. Neosporin is good for this.
