Stop doing anything extra or special for that person or people and do only what is necessary. Like the saying goes, "you don't know what you've got until it's gone" or you don't appreciate something until it's not there. Many people take others for granted and while it's not always on purpose, it is what it is. When they lose what has been freely given in the past they will learn to appreciate it when it returns.
