What do you do when you have 7 animals in the barn and you can't put your calf's feed box down because it says newcomer's when your calf is the newcomer?

That's irrelevant. There's a reason why it says "newcomer" on the feed box because it's for the new calf that you just got. So, use the feed box or, as you put it, "put the feed box down" for that calf.
