The US Airways website states: For the safety of your pet, US Airways does not accept animals in its cargo compartments on most flights Pets are accepted on most US Airways flights as carry-on baggage and permitted in the cabin with their owners. Only on certain flights are they allowed in the cargo hold. (We dog people all know they aren't baggage, though.) Both the US Airways website, and the TSA website has information on traveling with firearms. Briefly, everyday passengers MAY transport an UNLOADED firearm in their CHECKED baggage. The firearm will need to be in a lockable, hard sided case. When you approach the ticket counter, advise the agent that you wish to declare an unloaded firearm in your checked baggage. DO NOT say "I have a gun." The clerk will ask you to show that the weapon is empty, and have you sign a declaration form. The case is then locked, and the firearm checked through to your destination. Please see the websites for more information on ammunition, etc. DO NOT attempt to carry a firearm or ammunition through the security screening point.
