2 choices: First, you've placed a wrong formated Disc into the unit, or a CD instead of a DVD... Second, the unit doesn't have a Disc installed, or it's just "dead" and can't read any Formated Discs...
You're PS3 system should already read Blu-Ray movies, since it has a built-in Blu-Ray player. But if it doesn't, then you're Blu-Ray drive might be broken.

If the movies are already on your drive, and you can't play them with your resident players, you will probably have to use the "advertised" player. When at a website from which you want to download a movie, it's a good idea to try and play it from that website. If you are prompted to download a particular player to view the movie, it's up to you how you want to proceed. Divx is one exception, in that it is free and many web movies use that format. The latest version (ver 7) only supports XP+ on a Windows machine , but there are older versions available. I'm using Version 6.4.2, with Web-Player version 1.3.0.0 Check the links for movies and where to get Divx previous versions.
A rounders player named Alexander J. Cartwright said that instead of throwing the ball at a player to get him out, they should tag the player instead.
Do not buy a specialized Blu Ray player if you already own a PlayStation three, as a PlayStation three has built in Blu Ray, which is excellent for previewing Blu Ray discs.
