When this happens might signal the time to have the tension adjustment checked. If you continue to operate the engine with this happening you risk severe engine damage.
if its 2002 /2003 with timing chain get the updated tensioner and new chain fitted before it jumps as these do at 50,000!
Check for excessive slack in the timing chain.
The 2004 four uses a chain and that is probably true for the 2003. I think you probably replace the chain when it jumps timing or breaks. I haven't done this but it looks fairly simple to do. The oil pump is also driven by a separate chain off the front of the crankshaft.
Yes, if the timing chain jumps on a 2005 Dodge Magnum with a Hemi engine, it can potentially bend the valves. This is because the Hemi engine has a non-interference design, meaning the pistons and valves occupy the same space during operation. If the timing chain slips, the synchronization between the pistons and valves is disrupted, leading to a collision that can cause bent valves and other engine damage.
The make would help. Some used a timing chain and others used gear to gear. The distributor could be worn also.

Timing Chain
Four cylinder has a chain. Replace it when it breaks or has so much slack in it that it jumps timing. Replace the guides at the same time. They have wear limits.
