This could be answered in several different ways. Most simply, you only have to believe in the tenets of Wicca and see the world through the lens of the Wiccan worldview. The next step is that you might decide to dedicate into a specific path or 'Wicca', in general.
One should not be so worried about taking on the title 'Wiccan'. Using the label doesn't make one a Wiccan. One will meet a plethora of people who call themselves Wiccan, and do nothing that makes them one. If you are calling yourself a Wiccan one minute and throwing litter out your car window the next, then you may be using the label, but you sure aren't practicing Wicca.
If you are a true seeker, someone who wants to give the faith and spirituality of Wicca your all - then you will know when it is time to proudly call yourself a Wiccan. If you are unsure, then it's just not time.
Wicca can be anything you want it to be, but the major themes are connecting yourself to nature and becoming one with yourself.
well there are axially A LOT of gods and godesses for Wicca/Paganism. To many to name them ALL.
a wicca practitioner is a witch Just to clarify here. Wicca is just one of the many spiritual paths that fall under the umbrella term of Pagan. Not all witches are practitioners of Wicca and not all Wiccans call or consider themselves Witches. Also of note, not all practitioners of witchcraft, call or consider themselves witches.
Really, Wicca is a very positive religion, with many variations. The central negative point is social discrimination. People are closed to wicca now, refering to us a satanists, Devil worshippers, and cult teenagers. And what is really strange, most satanist do not even beilive in satan. You will need to keep your religion a secret, and prepare for negative talk about wicca. Do advertise yourself as a Wiccan, keep your religion to yourself. The most concentrations of wicca are in russia, USA, Britain,Ireland, Austrailia, and Canada.
Wicca is a recent form of paganism. Wicca has only been around since about the 1940s, although it was first openly revealed in 1954. However, wicca stems from paganism, which has been around longer than the Egyptian pyramids. Wicca was arounf a while before that. It just vanished for a time. and then came back.
Fiona Horne is associated with the practice of Wicca, which its devotees sometimes call the Craft.
There is some debate about whether Wicca is a new religion or one of the oldest. Certainly Goddess centered worship has perhaps existed since before recorded history, but the modern Wicca movement was started when Gerald Gardner, known as the father of Wicca, published Witchcraft Today in 1954.
No Wicca became popular in Britain in the 1950's, it did not start in the 1950's. Wicca or Paganism has been around for eons. Look back to ancient history, starting with Celtic tradition (just a place to start) even then Celtic beliefs will take you further back to when Wicca originated No one really knows when Wicca began, were not really suppose to, it is a simple fact of the faith. Shamanism, Paganism and Witchcraft has been around since the civilization of humans. But Wicca started as a religion in England in 1950's. There is no evidence of the existence of Wicca before that. Even Gerald Gardner does not claim so. That practice Gerald Gardner was referring to, that existed for a very long time, was Witchcraft, not Wicca. Wicca and Witchcraft are two things, not the same. Even Witchcraft was not called as Witchcraft since 1600. It is actually Shamanism. The word Witchcraft was introduced by the Vatican in 1600 to call all the Pagan beliefs, nature worship and Shamanism.
Generally speaking, there is already an oath in Wicca. Its call the Wiccan Rede, and all Wiccans follow it. "An ye harm none, do as thou wilt." or in layman's terms, dont hurt anyone or anything, including yourself, and you can do whatever you see fit.If you are also talking about the term oathbound, it means to be bound by an oath of silence. You dont use this to your benefit.
Following the path of Wicca, of knowledge and wisdom. You must be initiated, either by yourself or by other practitioners.
Wicca has its own scriptures.
Wicca isn't based anywhere.
