Everything is needed.
Interior Designers in New York State are required to be licensed.
However, you can call yourself a Design Consultant, Interior Decorator or just plain Designer without having any degree or certification. You just don't have the clout that comes with it. If you aren't an actual Interior Designer and you call yourself that, especially in print (ads, business cards, etc.) you can get sued and will never be allowed to become an interior designer.
The amount an interior designer charges is about 65 to 80 dollars an hour

Graphic Designer, Architect and Interior Decorator spring to mind first. Go to any website for an Ivy League college (Cornell, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, etc.) and click on their Industrial Arts link. It should be there.
Interior architects and interior designers can actually perform very similar services, but an interior architect is a licensed architect that specializes in interior design. The breadth of skills that can be legally offered to a client is therefore greater where the interior architect can also do structural calculations, site work, life safety analysis and other skills that interior designers are not licensed to do (regardless of how competent they are at performing them). The skills that can be performed legally by interior designers varies from state to state. In some states, for commercial interior projects a licensed interior designer can complete and seal a set of construction drawings. In other states, only a licensed architect can perform this task. Both interior designers and interior architects should be very skilled at space planning; locating the non-load bearing walls, lighting selection, power and data cable planning, finish selections, furniture selections and art selection.
Jobs that involve designing include graphic designers who create visual content, architects who design buildings and structures, interior designers who plan interior spaces, industrial designers who develop products, and fashion designers who design clothing and accessories. Designers use their creativity and technical skills to bring innovative ideas to life in various fields.
