As a Christian you will have to live a god centered life, so all can see the difference, and you will have to spread the word of god to all the people around you.

This question, and above answer, imply that you have to "do" something to be a Christian. Actually, we aren't required to "do" anything by God other than repent of our sins and invite Him into our hearts as our Lord and Saviour. Reading The Bible is how God will talk to you through his Holy Spirit in your heart. Only by reading His Word and praying every day will you know what God expects of you. Of course your life will change as you read God's Word and pray, and that change will be a witness to the people around you. If God calls you to do more, then He will tell you what else you should do.

There is no single answer to the question. There are many different branches of Christianity that have been shaped and changed through various cultures and periods of history. Different Christian traditions have tragically disagreed over this very question, resulting in persecutions, conflicts and wars.

In the very simplest definition, a Christian is one who believes in Jesus of Nazareth as Lord (Master) and makes some effort to be his disciple, which means to follow his teachings. Beyond that, different groups who claim authority have differing definitions of belief and discipleship, with widely divergent requirements concerning baptism and the various sacraments, belief in Scripture, church attendance, and personal behavior. Some traditions have very strict sexual mores and clear rules regarding women's dress and behavior. Certain traditions believe that to be a "real Christian" one must live in communities that are actually separated from the rest of society, which is viewed as "the world," which is spiritually treacherous. Yet other traditions agree that a "real Christian" must be "in the world but not of the world," continually witnesses to "unbelievers" and demonstrating a life of holy righteousness in contrast to those around them. But many, perhaps most, Christians live with few or no special restrictions while making their faith a quiet part of a fully normal modern lifestyle.
