You want to look for a very active fish that does not look like it is not fed well or any disease on it. AA few good places to get fish are petsmart & petco. Do not buy fish at Walmart or any convienant store as they are more prone to disease than with other stores who have people that actually know about fish. You do not want to put betas together as they will fight. You also need to know whether you want a freshwater, Saltwater, Or warmwater aquarium. You also need to research on what fish you can put together and what fish you can not. You need to know what size of tank you need to get. Like for instance for smaller fish like glowfish and regular goldfish about 1-5 gallon tanks. For bigger fish like sharks and Oscars etc. You need a 20-50 gallon. You pretty much just need to do research.
hope this helps-Ethan
Professional Care for Fish for five years. The best way to work out what size tank you need is to remember the basic rule of "1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water".
When buying a fish as a pet, consider factors such as the size of the tank needed, the type of fish that will thrive in your environment, the level of care required, and the compatibility of the fish with other tank mates. Additionally, consider the cost of maintaining the fish, the lifespan of the fish, and the availability of resources for proper care.

A basic rule is never to buy a fish from a tank that is suspect or dirty. Buying from a tank with dead fish in is a definite no no. I would not even consider buying anything from a pet shop if they had dead fish in aquariums on display.

pet fish or fish pet. You can say it however you want, but I say pet fish.AnswerIn English it is proper to say "pet fish" because in this case, 'pet' is actually being used as an adjective to modify the noun 'fish' by defining the relation between you and the fish. While its not UNIVERSALLY true, in English, adjectives come before the noun as in "red ball".
If you have one as a pet in a cage, get other insects. Crickets work best. You can buy them in a pet store or catch them in your backyard. (Buying them is more reliable)
Do some research on how to set up a fish tank, buy one for the size and type of fish you would like to get, go to the pet/fish store, and find a fish you like. The people at the fish store should be able to help you set up a fish tank too.
