Water transportation is the intentional movement of water over large distances. Methods of transportation fall into three categories:

well developed transport tubes for plants to obtain water and food.
to transport food and water through phloem and xylem.
Air transport is faster because it has less resistance and friction, whereas water transport is slower because the waves will crash against whatever you are using for transport and slow it down. However, it doesn't mean that air transport has completely no resistance; the air can still go against you and slow you down.
Water leaving the plant's leaves creates a pressure gradient whereby it sucks in water from the ground.

Water will go up the stems of roses. But roses will not transport water any where else.
Water can use both passive and active transport mechanisms. Passive transport involves movement of water molecules across a membrane without the need for energy, while active transport involves the use of energy to move water molecules against their concentration gradient.
