All you really need is a pen to make a valid will--if you write it in your handwriting and you sign and date it at the end it is valid. But if you want to write a good will then you should get a lawyer to help you, and you will need to get information about all of your assets that you will be passing down.
Added: Check your state's statute. Most states require a certain number of witnesses and/or notary for a will to be enforced.

The names and addresses of any beneficiaries that are going to be in the will. The other is a good idea of your holdings. The property descriptions are important. It would be a good idea to ask for a checklist when you set up the appointment.
