1) The Bible. A better understanding of The Bible has always brought light, invention, understanding, and progress to a society that opened its Holy pages. Examples: 1500s, Renaissance and Reformation; 1700 America - the land of the Freedom of Conscience; 1800s Industrial Revolution and Medical discoveries; 1900s Modern technology and Inventions. Take a look, the major advances in science and technology in our history came from Christian men who were inspired by what they knew from God's Word. Besides all of this is the individual and personal change that this great book can make on any person that reads and accepts it. The truths found in The Book are foundational and eternal. Christians themselves would live much better lives if they followed the wisdom in the Bible better.

2) Learning from history. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" This is a quote from George Santayana and is a good reminder that if people would only learn and remember the lessons of history, we could avoid many of the complex challenges of life which seem to continually rear their ugly heads.

3) Find a good balance between the harshness of reality and the inattainability of the euphoria we seek by striving for idealism. For example, some people will not improve their lot in life by being given a hand-out. However, to give them instruction and a hand-up may help them. It's a delicate balance.
