The purpose for conducting a classroom assessment of each individual student's performance not only allows the teacher to asses each student, assess the class as a whole but also to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum on multiple levels. Classroom assessments are very revealing as to how well the class as a whole comprehends the assignment, for example. However, sometimes a teacher may find that half the class is doing exceptionally well and the other half is struggling but the average says that the class as a whole is at a mediocre level. By performing an assessment on each individual student, the teacher is able to identify that there are some stragglers in the class and the teacher can then devote the time necessary to bring these students up to par, raising the entire classes overall comprehension. Also, when the teacher finds that there may be an issue with the curriculum for his/her class, evaluating each students' performance will show the teacher the areas that either need to be reexamined and gone over again or the teacher may find that his/her particular class is not prepared to move onto the next assigned curriculum.

Is there such a thing is best assessment method or an assessment method that is appropriate for all types of learning?

None, for our group there is no assessment method that will suite for all kinds of learning because it depends and varies on the different factors such as: needs of the learners, the learning outcomes that should be assessed, individual differences and multiple intelligences of the learners, facilities and materials to be used , the purpose of assessment and others. Learners are the main factor to be considered in choosing the best assessment method to be used. In assessing learners should be the center of the assessment process because they are the ones to be assessed.
