I think the reason most of us are losing interest in folk song is because newer, "cooler" music has come out and that's all people wanna hear. Even heavy metal rock is losing its popularity next to more technologically advanced music, like Owl City and Gorillaz. These are just a few small examples.
Admit it, the future of music is techno all the way.
p.s. I'll have you know I'm only twelve so if you find that my reason makes no sense at all to you, please note I'm only in year 6 at school.

There are certainly more than a lot of explanations why Filipinos lose interest in folk songs today. I believe more than a few include us being interested in foreign songs or "Colonial Mentality" is what I think it's called.
