They can clean themselves, unless they are excessively dirty. You can get a bird bath from the pet store or a store like Walmart that attaches to the bird cage. If they can't get clean enough, if they are tame enough, you can let a budgie have a bath in the kitchen sink, in shallow water. Do NOT use soap of any kind, unless you find some at a pet store or somewhere that says it is specifically for birds. Human soaps will hurt them.

∙ 14y agoIt depends what you are trying to clean. Just to give them a quick misting, you can mist them with water. If you are getting off poop or something like that you can put them in a shallow dish of LUKEWARM water and try to get a bird shampoo, you can't use human soap. DO NOT scrub the bird.

∙ 13y agoIt is safest to stay away from harsh chemicals such as bleach to clean your little pal's cage. This can easily harm your bird, make him sick, or be even deadly.
Just basically stay away from that.
What I do, is I just soak all the parts of the cage in a tub of steaming hot water.
That lets all the feces and dried food melt away...easily.
Not really any scrubbing necessary!
If the feces and dried food is just really stuck on there, then pour a little vinegar inside the tub, and swish it around. Not only will it help break down the stuff, but it will also clean the germs out of the cage, and make it shine.
