The Mayflower Compact was signed on board the Mayflower agreeing the Pilgrims would treat each other civilly. The key aspect of the Compact centered on democracy.
Based on some of the disagreements while they were still on the ship that brought them to America, the leaders knew they needed some sort of document that would compel the settlers to work together as a team. The document was called the Mayflower Compact, and was signed before the pilgrims disembarked at the New World.
The phrase is actually "sign your John Hancock." and comes from the signing of the Declaration of Independence. John Hancock's signature is by far the largest signature on the document; he was also the first to sign the document.
I do not think that there is a woman's signature on this document.
Continue to refuse to sign the document.
No
An agreement by the first Pilgrims to make decisions by majority rule was a compact. The Pilgrims that came over on the Mayflower had to sign an agreement like this before they could board the ship in Europe.
They had to sign the document.

The Pilgrims had a commercial contract with the Merchant Adventurers in London, who fronted them the money to come to America in return for the Pilgrims shipping back furs and lumber. The Merchant Adventurers kept the books, and hence the Pilgrims felt they were being continually cheated. So once the first couple of years had passed, they called to England for a schoolmaster, and set up schools for all children, where they would be taught "reading, writing, and the casting up of accounts." Ever practical, these Pilgrims, teach them to be accountants . . ."

The document must be signed to be legal. Sign the document and return it to me.
The function of a Notary is to provide confirmation that a signature is in fact the signature of the person claiming to have signed a document. A Notary cannot sign for anyone in the sense of signing a document instead of someone else.
