Air resistance is the air having to move around the object traveling through it. It is complex. It has as an after product, the movement creates vorticies of air. Air swirling around after the object has passed. It can be dangerous. A small plane landing after big one encounter this turbulence and can get into trouble. Air slows any object traveling through it.
