BCC in an email stands for Blind Carbon Copy. If any sender is sending mail to TO and CC each receiver will view the receipt name i.e who else has got this mail. But if receipt name is in the BCC either TO or CC will not able to know who else got this mail and even BCC person also don't know who else got this mail.

Blind Carbon Copy started with typing on manual typewriters. A piece of carbon paper (8 & 1/2 by 11 inches) was inserted between two blank sheets of paper. The typewriter keys struck on the surface of the top sheet, and made a "copy" on the 2nd sheet. The original copy was sent out to the recipient, and the "copy" was kept.

If you put a sheet of carbon between pages 1 and 2, and another between pages 2 and 3, you would have 1 original and 2 copies. You could keep 1 copy and send a copy to a 3rd person without the original recipient knowing. This meant the recipient was "blind" about this extra communication going to a 3rd party.

With computers, you can include a list of people to receive the same email--- without any of them knowing.

What does BBC in emails mean?

Hi Its not BBc in emails .Its BCc.It means Blind Carbon Copy. The receiver of the email does not know to who else you have sent the email if you put it in BCC. I think you mean Bcc which stands for Blind Carbon Copy. This is how Bcc is used: recipients listed in the Bcc: field will not be seen by any other addressees (those listed in the To: and Cc: fields).

What does cc mean on a email lingo?

Carbon Copy...as in sending an email to more than one person. BCC is Blind Carbon Copy..when you send an email to two people, but the person in the "Send to:" category does not know that the person in the "BCC" category has received the same email.

What does BCC stand for and why would you use it?

In emailing, BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy. Any email addresses typed into the BCC slot will receive a copy of the email, but no one else will be able to see who else has received the email.

What does BBC mean on email?

These stand for 'Carbon Copy' and 'Blind Carbon Copy'. All email addresses in CC and BCC will be sent the email you have written. The difference is that addresses in the BCC list will not be able to see the addresses of anyone else you have sent the email to.

Do those that have been Bcc answer to those that have been sent as addressees in the email?

If an email is sent to a user using 'BCC' that user can see the addresses of other recipients who were not sent as 'BCC'. However, none of those that received the email can see any of the 'BCC' recipients, and thus cannot respond to them.

What does the Cc mean in outlook express?

Carbon Copy.... if you type an email address in that line, that person will receive a copy of the email you are sending. BCC is Blind Carbon Copy meaning that if you type an address in the BCC line, that person will receive a copy of the email you are sending but their email address will not show to the others who received the email.

What do you mean by Bcc and ccc in email?

CC is short for carbon copy. BCC is short for blind carbon copy. The reason BCC is called a "blind" carbon copy is that, as opposed to CC, BCC recipients of an email are not indicated to anyone, including other BCC recipients. Therefore, if you send an email to person A, with person B and C in CC and person D and E in BCC, person B will see that the email was sent to person A, B, and C, but will not see D or E's names.Likewise, neither person D nor E sees each other's names on the recipient list. The manual that I read said that BCC is good for "secret guests" of a party.

What does Bcc mean when sending emails?

BCC means Blind Carbon Copy. Any emails addresses you enter into the BCC field will receive a copy of the email; however, this list will be concealed, so the original recipient of your email won't know it was copied to the people in the BCC list.CC means Carbon Copy, if using this field (as opposed to BCC), the recipients will see who else was copied on the email/ message. It means "blind carbon copy".If you are sending to multiple people none of the people will know who else you are sending it to.;)

What does Bcc mean on emails?

Assuming you meant BCC not BBC - It stands for 'Blind Carbon Copy'. It's a method of sending the same email to more than one person - without each recipient knowing who else is getting it. Each person only sees their name on the email.

What are the drawbacks to putting the email addresses of all recipients in the To line?

One drawback is that everyone who receives the email will know the email address of everyone else. You can preserve privacy by using BCC or 'blind copy'. Any address in the BCC will be hidden.

How do you use Bcc in sending email messages?

BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy. When you use CC you let all the e-mail receivers know who received a copy of the e-mail. When you use BCC, the members of the BCC group are not revealed to the other people who receive the e-mail. If you receive an e-mail that shows the only recipient as the sender, it probably means that your e-mail address was included on the BCC line.
