∙ 11y agoHe took it like a man and didn't say anything because if he fought back, he would be a hypocrite. He tells Scout to not fight, and to fight Bob Ewell over something like spitting in his face would be contradictory.

∙ 12y agoAt first, he stops Atticus in the corner and spits in Atticus's face and calls him all of the worst names in the world one by one. Then he is not satisfied by this revenge partly due to the reason that Atticus did not look threatened when he tried to pull him down. So he found the further revenge by attacking the children one Halloween night when the children are coming home from a pageant. He tries to kill Jem but only succeeds in breaking his arm. Boo Radley hears the cries of help from Jem and Scout and comes and stabs Mr. Ewell to death. But by this time, the children were unconscious.

Bob Ewell's daughter, Mayella never gets any form of affection from her father as he is lazy, violent, and always drunk, and she has no friends, and in the 1930's black men were not allowed to be with a white girl (The Ewell's were white) and So Mayella tried to kiss Tom Robinson (who was black) and he knew he would be the one to get in trouble. Bob Ewell caught Mayella trying to kiss Tom, and Bob bashed her, so she said tom was the one that raped her, and beat her up.
Anyway, Atticus took on the court taking Toms side, and proved Mayella and Bob Ewell wrong, and liars and yeah, so Ewell wants revenge because of that, even though they won the court case just cause Tom was African-American.
