Capricorn is basically trying to take over the world. He finds all copy of 'his' book, Inkheart, and burns them, that way he can never be read back into the book. He likes our world better than his own because he's more powerful here.
The people who died in Inkheart are mostly the people in Capricorn's village (including Capricorn).
The fire-raisers in Inkheart are Capricorn's men.

The book was named Inkheart originally because of Capricorn, seeing he has a black heart, just like ink.

Capricorn, Basta, Orpheas, Mortola (The Magpie) and The Adderhead..
In "Inkheart," a metaphor can be found when Meggie describes Capricorn as having a "heart like an abyss." This metaphor compares Capricorn's heart to a vast and empty void, emphasizing his lack of empathy or humanity.
The main antagonist is Capricorn, the main "villain" that Mo read out of the fictional Inkheart novel; as well as his henchmen Basta, Flatnose and many others. Thanks to the simplistic style of the fictional Inkheart, the "bad guys" in Inkheart all wore black clothing.
it was a old fort and chple with lots of old huts around it
Capricorn is killed by the shadow and all of the earlier victoms of the shadow come back to life.
Meggie and Capricorn are both connected to the magical world of books. Meggie has the ability to bring characters to life by reading aloud, while Capricorn desires to control these characters for his own gain. Both characters have a deep connection to the power that stories hold.
