New York requires grandparents seeking child support to submit a financial affidavit to determine their ability to contribute to a child's support. This requirement ensures that the court can assess the grandparents' financial situation accurately and make an informed decision regarding child support. The form is a legal document for purposes of naming, support, inheritance, and custody disputes.
