You're body stops. But when you are human, you eat, you sleep, your body needs to live. So while Edward and Bella are on their honeymoon, Edward gets Bella pregnant and she is dieing because the baby is half vampire and is killing her on the inside. The baby is pretty much eating Bella alive and Bella needs blood for the baby to survive. So when she's having the baby Jacob tries to keep her heart pumping and Edward puts his venom into her heart and spreads it in her body to save her.
