There is a immense number of religious people in the world. As a result, they simply have to. Just because they are religious dosent give them an advantage.
Why do families celebrate Christmas?
There is no universal answer to this. For starters: Not everyone does celebrate Christmas. From my personal observations it would appear people celebrate Christmas simply out of tradition (There has always been a Christmas to them). Do NOT get me wrong, I know of people who celebrate it because of its Religious implications. I also know people who celebrate it simply because: "Why not?" As I stated, there is no universal answer.
How do people find out if they are religious or not?
if they're family are religious or simply if they were made a certain religion as a baby/child
Why are smart people atheist?
The same reason smart people are Christian, or Jewish, or are of any religious or non religious background. Because it was their choice, either after simply following the crowd with no real knowledge of their decision, or after making careful deductions themselves and giving much thought on why it was best for them.
Is there religious persecution in England?
Some people might be biased, but in general no, there is not. Such would be illegal, and the people there are respectful enough not to hate someone for simply attending a different church or religious meeting.
Why would other people disagree with following the teachings of the church?
Most people would not disagree with following the moral teachings of the Church. They are much the same as those of Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and so on. Many disagree with following the religious teachings of the Christian Church, simply because they believe them to be untrue. If one is a Muslim, Budhhist, Hindu or atheist, then the religious teachings of the Church simply do not apply.
Atheistic Existentialism as a freak personality?
Atheists have the same range of personalities as religious people. People are not atheists because they have a freaky personality. People are atheist because they dont believe in a god or gods. the reason for this is that they find the religion they were brought up with to be contradictory, immoral, unnecessary and simply irrelevant.

Because they're uneducated in atheism. Also, people who are are religious have difficulty comprehending how a person can live without some sort of belief in the supernatural. They assume that everyone must "believe in" something. Of course they also cannot grasp that religious belief is the acceptance of certain things to be true in the absence of proof and many people simply don't spend time in that pursuit. Atheism is simply the absence of belief in gods.
Why most Americans are either polytheistic or monotheistic?
I've read that Americans are among the most religious people in the world. Usually religious people believe in God(s)--if you believe in one God, you are monotheistic (example Judaism). If you believe in many gods, you are polytheistic (example neo-Pagans). Simply because America is a multi-coultured nation where people from different nations are found and that's why we find most Americans polytheistic or monotheistic because they bond with the people around them.

Simply because people are idiots.

Simply because nothing religious, or anything of the sort, had any significant impact during the month. Not every month will have a holiday.
