' eid ' is an Arabic word that means feast.' Fitr' is an Arabic word that means 'not fasting'. So, 'eid fitr' means the feast of no longer fasting and it comes on the first day of end of the fasting month of Ramadan. Muslims celebrate that they succeeded in fasting the month of Ramadan as commanded by Allah (God in English).
Eid-ul-Fitr, often abbreviated to Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm) and lasts for 3 days. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fiṭr means "breaking the fast". The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The first day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of the month Shawwal. This is a day where Muslims around the world try to show a common goal of unity.
Eid al-Fitr has a particular salat (Islamic prayer) consisting of two raka'ah (units) and generally offered in an open field or large hall. It may only be performed in congregation (Jama'at) and has an additional extra six Takbirs (raising of the hands to the ears while saying "Allahu Akbar" [God is Great]), three of them in the beginning of the first raka'ah and three of them just before ruku' in the second raka'ah in the Hanafi school. This Eid al-Fitr salat is, depending on which juristic opinion is followed, Fard (obligatory), Mustahabb(strongly recommended, just short of obligatory) or mandoob (preferable).
Muslims believe that they are commanded by God, as mentioned in the Qur'an, to continue their fast until the last day of Ramadan and pay the Zakat and fitra before doing theEid prayer.
Eid Al Fitr is a three day holiday after the end of the Ramadhan and stands for breaking the fast. When Eid comes, Muslims are allowed to drink, eat and have sex during daylight hours.

The Arabic is: كل سنة وانتم طيبين and it is one of many expressions for "Happy New Year". This one literally translates to, "Every year, and you all are well."
blessed feast
Islamic festivals at the time of Prophet were just two. 1) Eid ul Azha -- The day Prophet Abraham was tested by God for if he sacrifices his Son on God's order, Muslims try to remember that day with scarifying an animal as Prophet Abraham did after God replaced his Son with sheep. 2) Eid ul Fitr -- The day after a month of fasting These festivals normally continues from three to four days
As a Muslim, Eid is to be considered as your celebration day. You should enjoy it as much as you can, you should also share this enjoyment with your family, relatives, and friends. There are certain things you should do in each eid. for example, in eld alftar , the one after Ramadan ends, you should give your "Zkah Alftar", which consist of about 3k of rice, flour ...etc. And so on. On both the two eids, the best thing to be done is that Muslims pray in the morning (after sunrise) the eid prayer. For eid Al-Fitr, they pay Zakat Alfitr before the eid prayer. On eid Al-Adha, Muslims make the sacrifice after the eid prayer.
23rd January is the English date for eid - ul - fitr in 1966.
It means "the" in English. Eid ul fitr means in English Feast of the fast breaking.
