Best Answer

It is a pencil gradation system. HB means hard black B means black and 2H means harder.

H (2H, 4H, etc) are the harder leads, and therefore draw a lighter line; and B (2B, 4B, etc) are the softer leads, and therefore draw a darker line. HB is the very middle. The larger the number, the farther away from HB it is. So for instance, 6B will be darker than 2B, and 4H would be lighter than 2H.

What is the full form of HB pencil?

If you mean what HB stands for, it's an indicator for the hardness (H) or softness (B) of the graphite and clay used. However, the B is for blackness so HB is like average/medium grade so the full form would be Hard Black, Hard and Black, or Hard Blackness. If you check out pencils like 3H, you'll notice that the tone when writing or drawing is light compared to an HB. Conversely, a 3B pencil will give you a darker tone.
