Occasionally you will find older photo frames made of sterling silver. It is possible this frame is silver. The R could be a manufacturer's mark. I would bring it to a jeweler to see if it is silver. 925 usually means sterling, 92.5% pure.
A digital photo frame is jsut a small LCD panel, like the ones used on laptop computers or LCD televisions. Some are white by default when turned on, some display a logo and some are dark - it will depend on how the engineer who designed the frame set it to operate. A white display means the backlight is on and no picture has been set. Of course it could also mean your photo frame is broken!

Assuming you're talking about a picture frame, or a framed photo, poster, or art work, mattes are those wide solid-color pieces of thick paper or board that are put in the frame on top of the artwork, like an outline. A picture frame's dimensions with matting would mean that an 8 x 10 frame with a matte inside may only be able to display a 5 x 7 photo, because that's how big the opening in the matte is. If you're trying to buy a poster, photo, or art work, dimensions with matting means that the poster, photo, or art work will include a matte, which may be bigger than the poster, photo, or art work itself. (Like above, if you were buying a 5 x 7 photo, with matting it may be 8 x 10.) Mattes can be very wide, or very skinny, so the dimensions with matting may not actually give you a very good idea of what size the actual frame or poster, photo, or art work really is. If you're concerned, ask about the frame size (if buying a frame), or the size of the actual piece (if you're buying a poster, photo, or art work.) Remember, if you're buying something you're going to frame, the frame itself will make the dimensions even bigger, so measure your available space carefully!
It is an old word for a type of drum. There are different explanations for the origins of it. It is an instrument, a type of frame drum. See the link below for a photo of it.
Frame has several related meanings. First, the photo frame you buy from the drugstore or department store. Second, in photo editing it means that a picture is to be cropped and rotated. Third, it can mean a border around the edges of a photo. In video, a frame is one photo in the series of photos that create the motion picture. A frame is one image which lasts (typically) 1/30 of a second. 1/15 and 1/8 second are also common. In 35mm roll film, a frame is one 35mm by 24mm rectangle which is one full sized image or a "full frame." To save film, some compact cameras from the 1950s and 60s used half frame (18mm x 24mm) negatives. The frame counter counts the number of exposures you have left on a roll of film, or on your digital media. In summary, the answer depends somewhat on context.
