to speak with Tiresias
Tiresias
He accuses Tiresais of conspiring to the murder of Lauis.
Odysseus decided to talk with Tiresias, so he and his men journeyed to the River Acheron in Hades, where they performed sacrifices which allowed them to speak to the dead. Odysseus sacrificed a ram, attracting the dead spirits to the blood. He held them at bay and demanded to speak with Tiresias, who told him how to pass by Helios's cattle and the whirlpool Charybdis.
Odysseus had to journey to the underworld and offer sacrifices at Tiresias' tomb in order to speak to him. Tiresias was a blind prophet in Greek mythology who could communicate with the living from the realm of the dead.
Tiresias changed his mind and spoke the truth when he was pressured by Oedipus and accused of hiding the truth. He realized that revealing the truth was necessary for Oedipus to understand his fate and accept it. Ultimately, Tiresias felt that the truth needed to be told to bring about resolution and closure.
- Odyesseus Blinded Poseidon son because odyesseus didn't like the way posidon and Athena was having problems with eachother . odyesseus also put a curse on Poseidon's son head . Poseidon was also mad because Athena had won the bet to become patron god of the city ! the curse lasted for 10 years , that's why odyesseus and Poseidon do not like eachother and Athena and Poseidon are always fighting :)
Tiresias
Tiresias. has written: 'Notes from the overground.'
Oedipus is outraged at Tiresias' prophecy. He thinks Tiresias is lying to him and was "put up" to telling him that by Creon. Oedipus is so furious with Tiresias, that in the process he pushes Tiresias into making another prophecy (more of a premonition) that Oedipus will be blind.
