Best Answer

In Romeo and Juliet, Tybalt was the cousin of Juliet and a rival to the Montague family, including Romeo. When Tybalt kills Mercutio, Romeo's best friend, Romeo kills Tybalt. Tybalt is also the awesomest character in the play, although Balthazar is pretty cool too.

Tybalt is Juliet's cousin. He is an extremely quarrelsome man and, if Mercutio is to be believed, a fancy swordsman. He is heavy into the feud with the Montagues, for which he is rebuked by Capulet at the feast. Capulet doesn't seem to like him all that much, but Lady Capulet adores him, pleads for judgment against Romeo with the Prince and plots to poison Romeo after he is banished. All this suggests that possibly Tybalt is Juliet's cousin on her mother's side, and so is only connected to the Capulets by marriage. It would be delicious irony if so, for it would mean that Romeo is actually more of a Capulet than Tybalt, being married to one as opposed to having an aunt who is married to one.
