In 1914, Mausers were made to fire a number of cartridges, and were widely exported. 7x57 and 7.92x57 were the most common, but they were also manufactured in 7.65x53 and 6.5x55.

Can you shoot 270 win in a 8mm Mauser?

No, you cannot shoot .270 Winchester ammunition in an 8mm Mauser firearm. The .270 Winchester has a different case size and bullet diameter compared to the 8mm Mauser, which is designed for 8x57mm Mauser cartridges. Attempting to fire the wrong caliber can be dangerous and could damage the firearm or cause injury. Always use the correct ammunition specified for your firearm.

Typically, WW2 snipers would shoot out to 800 meters before they quit. Their rifles were in fact capable of shooting out to 2000 meters. This was when volley fire was still being considered and it is virtually impossible for one man to shoot another man 2000 meters away with an 8mm mauser rifle.
