It looks like a slab of wood with a barrel mounted on it and a very thin trigger guard. The best way to Identify one is the fact it's a push barrel. It was made between 1961-1969.
See the link below for the owners manual from Crosman.

It all depends on the model and type of rifle. State the model and ask the queston again. Or go to www.crosman.com and look up the instruction manual. Crosman has them all posted
Go to ( See the link Below) and find your parts and owners manual for your gun or rifle. Crosman keeps a web page for older airguns.
If I was you I would look at Crosman and Balkai
It would be helpful if we knew the model number. Look at the barrel of the rifle the model number should be there. Then re-post the queston with this information. Crosman has made many 22 cal models over the years.
You can find crosman Benjamin manuals at: ( See link below) Or look up "airgun repair" on the net to find a repair shop near you.
As far as I know there is no Crosman model 88. Daisy made a model 88. I've attached a Link to Crosman's list of Owners manuals for all their rifles. You are welcome to look at it and try to find a Crosman model 88. See the link below.
Crosman distributes 2 brands of Scopes. The "Crosman" and "Center Point" scopes. All you have to do is look at the packaging or Owners manual to see who the scope is made by. I found a few Center Point manuals that stated they are made in China. I also found the same for the Crosman brand.
first of all it's best to determine the model number. Crosman has most of there manuals, both "Owners and Parts" manuals available to the public. You can post the question with the model number here or look up the parts manual at the link below. The parts manual will help you put the rifle back together..
Currently it is selling for $69.99. I suggest that you also look at the Crosman 2104x, it's the same rifle, I would suggest that you look at the "pyramydair" home page to see both of these rifles.
a rifle looks like a pistol but longer and fatter
This is a two part answer for you. First the Rifle was made by Crosman air guns. Any JC Higgins air gun starting with 126 was made by Crosman any model starting with 799 was made by Daisy air gun. My Catalog list the 126-1930 as a Crosman 140/1400 the 1400 was a later model of the 140. This makes me think that the 1930(1) represents the 1400 model (Check Youtube and look for a Crosman 1400 and see if this is your model). If So then the rifle is worth around. $75 plus or minus. The 1400 rifle was made between 1968-78. Its a pump rifle that shoots a .22 cal pellet at 580 feet per second.
