B-I is the minimum US Coast Guard approval rating for extinguishers on powerboats. The UL 5-B rating implies that a novice firefighter can extinguish 5 square feet of flaming liquid fuel using that extinguisher. The C rating means it is also approved for use on energized electrical fires, i.e., it is non-conductive.
