Its venom causes severe coagulation disturbances, neurotoxicity, and occasionally nephrotoxicity. The Gwardir is also known as the Western Brown snake, and the Dugite is a spotted brown snake found in Western Australia. All need brown snake antivenom. King Brown or Mulga snake Pseudechis australis The King Brown (or Mulga) snake is found in all arid parts of Australia, and has the greatest venom output, with neurotoxic, coagulopthic and myotoxic actions, but of relatively low toxicity. It is more related to the black snakes than the brown. The King Brown needs black snake antivenom.

Yes, every snake needs to eat "animals" to survive, either bugs, reptiles, mammals, but the animal does not need to be alive when the snake eats it.
Snakes don't have a very good sense of smell through their noses, the tongue has a sensor in it that the snake can "sense" danger, food, water and more things they need to survive. Without the tongue the snake wouldn't last too long
