A male bee, also called a drone, has only one purpose in life: to mate with a new queen. It will do no work in the hive. It won't even feed itself, it is fed by the workers.
At the end of summer the queen will stop laying so there can't be any new queens until the next season. Because of this the drones have no purpose, and would just be a drain on resources over the winter, so the workers will throw all drones out of the hive and they will die.
Male bees, or drones, do not collect pollen. The only function they serve within the bee colony is to mate with the queen. Ironically, they die soon after doing so as their vital organs are pulled out during intercourse. They also do not have a stinger, rendering them more defenseless than their fellow bees.
Yes, but not many and their only purpose is to fertilize the queen bee. The worker bees are all female. The males do not live long.
In the average honey been colony there is one queen, betwen 20,000 and 60,000 workers (all female) and up to about 300 drones (males).
There's no real male LEADER but the main males which mate with the Queen bee are called Drones.
