It holds the majority of brake fluid and pushes it down the lines when brakes are applied.
The switch is located on top of the transmition directly below the master cylnder on the driver side of the car

I have an automatic. But (usually) The Slave Cylinder is on the transmission, easily accessible and easy to replace. It's a small thing on the transmission (usually) with a rubber boot with a piston inside. Have to bleed the clutch master cylnder as well. -CE
Loss of fluid is the typical reason, Master Cylnder failure is another. Brake failure is very typical in these vehicles...there was a lawsuit against GM in the 90's to reimburse owners.
Graduated means diameter is not uniform top to bottom.
Remove brake lines going into master cylinder, properly dispose of all used brake fluid. Unbolt master clylinder from power booster. Remove pin holding break pedal (under dash on driver side) from master cylnder shaft. Install new part in reverse order of removing old part. Properly bleed master cylinder and brakes at each wheel! Ensure there are no leaks and you are done!
The formula for volume is pi x radius squared x height.
what is the firing oder for 2003 Hyundai santa fe 6 cylnder
I messed that up, I wanted to say I am in the middle of replacing my clutch master cylnder on my 1989 ford ranger 2.9 5 spd , The bottom hose seems to be a hard plastic with two flared ends that seem inseperable from the tranny and master clyn. I ended up breaking the hose off of the tranny but can not for th elife of me figure out how to get the old section off or flare it again so it will fit. Also I can't find a bleeder for it either ... thank you ...
